Lowell D. Duncan, BA, LADC, CAP, CAC III

Lowell joins 7W Lodge, bringing with him twenty-five years of addictions counseling experience.

An internationally certified drug addictions counselor, author, consultant, speaker, advocate, and program developer, Duncan has spent most of his career bringing hope and relief to hundreds of patients at the renowned Hazelden Foundation in Minnesota, where he worked in a variety of capacities and with a wide range of clients. He has functioned as a unit supervisor, manager of a halfway house, and developer and facilitator of Hazelden's nicotine programs. He developed meth prevention programs in his community and in prison settings. A sought-after consultant, Duncan has helped to start numerous addictions treatment programs, all grounded on the Twelve Step, abstinence-based model of recovery.

Duncan is a published author on the topics of nicotine and heroin addiction, has appeared in numerous recovery DVDs, and served as a manuscript consultant for Hazelden Publishing and Educational Services. Duncan believes in using the Twelve Step spiritual program combined with cognitive-behavioral methods for people of all backgrounds and beliefs. Duncan applies a variety of additional counseling theories to supplement Twelve-Step treatment, believing that everyone has his or her own story and deserves a personalized approach to recovery.

Duncan has a B.A. in addictions counseling and graduated from Hazelden's chemical dependency counselor training program. He lives in the mountains of Colorado with Colleen, his wife of twenty-nine years. Together they have four adult children and one grandchild. Duncan lives an active recovery program and believes in combining avocation and vocation to give life meaning. He enjoys reading, meditation, motorcycles, travel, and organic farming.

Colleen B. Duncan, RN, CARN Certified

Colleen came to Colorado after 20 years at Hazelden Foundation for a wonderful opportunity to work at 7W Lodge. At Hazelden she worked as a unit tech, psychometrist , night unit specialist, staff nurse, medical screener, nursing supervisor, nurse manager, infection control nurse, lecturer, taught medical detoxification in the counselor training program she was a member of numerous teams including environment of care, best practices, quality leadership . She provided clinical supervision, mentoring and training addiction nurses to provide care to chemically dependent clients. She worked in creating and implementing policies and procedure to meet JCAHO standards. She has years of experience in chemical dependency, addictions and detoxification. She has facilitated groups, worked with youth at risk in AODA groups. Colleen is considered by her peers to be empathetic, compassionate and understanding with the clients and their families suffering with the disease of addiction. She has training in Equine Therapy. Her interests include gardening, yoga, meditation, dance, photography, stain glass work, sewing, hiking, cross country skiing, music, horses, traveling and fly fishing in the beautiful waters of Colorado. 

Consulting Psychologist

Dr. Michael Claussner, Psy. D

Michael has practiced locally for the past 20 years. He received his Doctorate in Psychology in 1990 and is certified in EMDR, Gestalt Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnosis. He has special interest in hypnotherapy which can help reveal the unconsious scripts that support addictions and emotional difficulties. In addition, he teaches self-hypnosis for relapse prevention. His hobbies include skiing, kayaking, reading and working on his cabin. 

Consulting Psychiatrist

Dr. Jonathon P. Rosman, M.D.

Dr. Rosman is a Board Certified Addiction Psychiatrist and Sleep Medicine specialist. A graduate of the University of Pretoria medical school in South Africa and having trained at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, Dr. Rosman brings a wealth of multinational and clinical experience to the program. With over twenty years experience in treating patients with chemical dependencies in a variety of clinical settings, Dr. Rosman’s expertise provides an important resource for patients to address the full spectrum of their mental health needs in order to maintain sobriety and prevent relapse. In addition to his professional career, Dr. Rosman pursues a broad variety of interests, ranging from aviation (he is a certified flight instructor) to skiing (he is a professional ski instructor) to philosophy, classical music, writing and parenting.

Austin C. Greene

After receiving his Culinary Arts Degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, Austin honed his talents in Atlanta for ten years. He's been in Colorado for several years and specializes in nutritional "comfort" foods. His hobbies include flying, fly fishing, hiking and biking. 

 

Bryan D. Ready, BS, MA, BCC, CACII

Bryan was born in St.Paul Minnesota and currently lives in Glenwood Springs, CO. He is a Board Certified Counselor who received his Masters in Addiction Studies from the Hazelden Graduate School. He also graduated with a B.S. in Theatre from Northern Arizona University. He recently had the privilege to work with clients as an addictions counselor at an extended care facility named Jaywalker Lodge in Carbondale, CO. He has had the opportunity to serve in the field of Addiction as a result of his own personal recovery. He began at the halfway houses of VK Arrigoni Inc and Hazelden Fellowship Club in St.Paul,MN. He brings empathy, experience and a sense of humor to individuals who are struggling to maintain a life of recovery while encouraging them to create a healthy balance between mind, body and spirit.

He loves anything outdoors including hiking, biking, snowboarding and fly fishing. Some of his other interests are Church, AA, reading inspiring books, writing poetry, photographing the great outdoors and making the winning bucket in B-Ball or at least assisting on it! He is grateful for the blessings of his family, friends and Higher Power who have helped him along the way so he can help others on the journey of recovery and life.

 
Charles A. "Bud" Hill, B.A., M.Div.

Bud has performed in a variety of interesting roles throughout his life. He was a First lieutenant in the United States Army serving in Korea. field artillery and missiles duty. He became an Ordained Minister in 1976 and has been a pastor in a number of different congregations over the past 32 years. He was an Executive director for 10 years of Family Life mission, facilitating marriage and family retreats throughout the country.

He has taught History and Geography to junior high and high school students in the US and abroad in Iran. His hobbies include baseball, softball, the art of bonsai, and writing but his greatest love is snowboarding. Most of his leisure time is spent on the beautiful slopes of Colorado. His love of traveling has taken him around the world twice. Bud has a genuine and sincere interest in helping others especially those who are in transition. As a result of his vast experiences he has a broad understanding of individuals in a variety of human conditions. 

Brian Widhalm

B.A. Psychology and Sociology, Equine training

Brian was born on a farm in Colorado and his lived in the Sweetwater area for 25 years. He has maintained and managed the 7W ranch for 12 years. For years Brian has been a wrangler and hunting guide in the pristine 2,300,000 acre wilderness of the White River National Forest which borders the 7W Lodge. Having worked at the 7W Lodge for many years he is intimately familiar with the wildlife and backcountry which makes him an excellent guide in this stunning mountain setting. Brian has worked with horses for the past 25 years and is trained as an equine therapist assistant. His hobbies include reading, hunting, hiking, he is a wildlife enthusiast and avid bird watcher. His greatest love is horseback riding through the wilderness. Brian resides in a log cabin with his daughter near Sweetwater creek
