In the words of our Executive Director:
"I have been rescued from the abyss of addiction. I believe in my recovery. I believe in your recovery. Your greatest strength and hope is in your weakness. In our suffering we are emancipated. At 7W Lodge, we will practice love and tolerance. Come to the beautiful mountains of Colorado and experience the miracle of recovery."
In the words of our CEO:
"By the grace I have experienced and treasure, I believe that every human being is incredibly valuable. I believe that addiction is a disease of the brain. These two beliefs drive a passion for the recovery of the addict in an environment that is absent of punishment and full of love, dignity and respect. Individuals and families struggling with addiction have reason to be hopeful and optimisic about recovery."
Treatment Philosophy
Treatment at 7W Lodge consists of four approaches that when combined treat the whole person. By blending one-on-one counseling, the Twelve Steps, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and experiential therapy, 7W Lodge ensures that each individual's needs are met.
Individualized Treatment
The 7W Lodge was designed with the client in mind. With only fifteen beds, we are able to give each individual the maximum amount of attention, from initial assessment through aftercare. Our small census is intentional. We spend as much time as necessary in one-on-one counseling, taking the time to get to know and understand each person we treat. Throughout their stay, clients meet individually with a multi-disciplinary team of counselors, psychologists, psychiatrist, and doctors. We value and respect the client's time with us. In addition, we stay in contact with each client for two years after discharge, providing personalized aftercare during the most vulnerable period in recovery.
Twelve Step Treatment
At the core of our treatment stands a twelve step approach, the most proven form of recovery for nearly seventy-five years. The Twelve Step model of recovery is abstinence-based. It holds that when people cannot control their chemical usage, they need help from a power outside themselves. The goal of the Twelve Steps is to help people to find that power, in part by learning to live by a code of love, tolerance, and forgiveness. The Twelve Steps are a design for living that clients take with them when they leave 7W Lodge. We believe that staff members at 7W Lodge model the Twelve Step design for living in their relationships with clients.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is a natural adjunct to the Twelve Steps. By examining how thoughts and beliefs rule behavior, clients can challenge the many mistaken ideas that lead to upset feelings and regretful behaviors. In challenging false beliefs, clients will recognize the truth, a process akin to a spiritual transformation. When old beliefs falter, so do old behaviors, as the false self is no longer running the show. Changing behaviors is a big part of what recovery is all about.
Experential Therapy
Experiential Therapy is a means to experiencing the whole self through nature and creative and recreational opportunities. It's no secret that nature has the power to heal and just being in the unique, private mountain setting of 7W Lodge is a healing experience. In this extraordinary setting, clients are given ample space and time for reflection. Through hiking, biking, rafting, skiing, golfing fly fishing, and equine therapy, clients naturally release endorphins that produce joy and relaxation, reduce anxiety, and improve sleep and overall fitness. Greater health enhances body, mind, and spirit-exactly what chemicals destroy. Our outdoor programs give clients a sense of healthy risk-taking, unleashing the human spirit.
